I read a few reviews and was a little concerned using Comodo. After my experience, I can't believe that the other reviewers and I used the same company. The chat wait was a little long, but it's always long when you deal with tech companies. I purchased by SSL certificate through my hosting company. Due to an IP mismatch with my site and my new email address (story for another day), I wasn't able to receive the validation email. I exhausted all the options available at my hosting company, and decided to see if Comodo, the issuing company could help me. That was the smartest thing I did last week. I got MARTIN, who works in the validation department. He was AMAZING. He sat with me throughout the phone call. He offered suggestion, upon suggestion to help me resolve my problem. He even helped me figure out part of the problem with the IP address mismatch problem. MARTIN was the ONLY person who helped me. He wasn't condescending, he didn't explain things to me like I was a toddler and he was PATIENT! He deserves a raise. Thank you Martin. You are definitely an asset.

Seriously, save yourself the time and money. After 2 weeks I still had no SSL certificate. Customer support was slow, and kept giving me form after form to fill in - why not just ask for them all in one go? Everytime I responded I had to wait days for a response. The forms themselves were weird, particularly considering I had purchased through crazy domains who made no mention that they would then outsource this to comodo. At one point I was asked to provide Crazy domains address for a legal document with comodo. What the? Sort this out between yourselves. After two weeks of playing their stupid games I finally just got a refund and went else where. It was issued within the hour, with no forms. I repeat - Terrible service. DO NOT USE.

In order to secure my friend's website for the time period needed to decide on a long-term SSL CA (Cert Authority), I went with the Instant-SSL offered by COMODO (as a 'temp' security solution), also acting as a 'test-run' of COMODO's SSL Services. The Purchasing procedure was as easy as 1...2...3; pardon the cliche. However, despite having several years of Programming & Coding knowledge/experience, the installation process from that point on was rather lacking in explanation. It was a bit frustrating trying to complete one of the vaguely guided options (where most votes on 'helpfulness' were the "thumbs down" of red-faced Programming-Novices). Yet, I can only shrug my shoulders over it, as an hour of annoying work was worth the solid level of security which COMODO's certificate has offered in the end. So, I do recommend them, but hope that they'll make the processes a bit more intelligible.

We used an InstantSSL certificate from Comodo once, something like six years ago. (Maybe twice, I forget.) It worked okay - not great, not horrible - but we've since switched to a different CA who we're very happy with. Why am I reviewing them now, then? Because seeing that our current cert was due for renewal, Comodo decided to start touting for business with repeated email and at least one actual phone call - never mind that the contact info was years out of date and we're in a different country. Their certs work, but their prices aren't great, and we don't support spammers. You shouldn't either.

My site is secure from its first day, however, with my initial certificate (NON Comodo) I had a security warning on the rewriting from "https://www" to "non-WWW". I have always been stressed when dealing with them. slow support responses, short or irrelevant replies, always referring me to their knowledge base before really understand the point of my request. I also recently found out I have paid way to much for their service. There will be no next time.

Certificate Transparency is a feature very useful for privacy and other reasons. Currently X.509v3 extension embedded in the certificate is by default supported for EV certificates. I asked them to do mine, as a scientist of them, said would do in ALL the certificates, but didn't do it. They did it only with OCSP Response...
