My god - that was confusing. Why is it such a mess

Awful and confusing experience. The whole system is a complete mess. I paid Comodo. I get an email from thesslstore (same people? who knows!) They advised me to use Firefox 60.9esr - so I download that and use it. I do the next part. Then I get an email from "Sertigo"... who? I follow their link and it says to use only Internet Explorer 8+... so I try that. Nothing. Doesn't work. I try the other browsers they suggest. Nothing. The live chat lady was helpful, but confirmed I should use IE. Finally I try Firefox again, and that works. Hours lost. Why the conflicting information? And who is SSLshopper.com?
