I am now on week three of their "instant" ssl certificate application. Considering that we already hold 2 others with them for the same endpoint IP I am completely bemused. Having contacted their support asking why it is takin so long, their response was a very short email just stating that the needed to send a verification email to my address they had just miled. The verificaion email came through without a verification code. It is now several days since I requested anoter email (with a code). We will not be renerwing our other ceritificates with them this year.

I don't have any problem with Comodo. I have good experience with their helpdesk support but not at livechat. They seems don't know much about Comodo product. Overall I gives Comodo 92/100. :)

Painful to deal with

I *hate* dealing with Comodo. They're slow, don't read emails and whenever you have to have a multiple page interaction with them, you have to repeat everything you've already written because they don't review prior conversation history. Nothing short of painful and frustrating. The only reason I continue to use them is their Corner of Trust is invaluable. It's proven that it can convert with me in multiple situations. Comodo, Google 'good customer service' and learn how to treat customers properly.

I've been buying certificates from Comodo for years starting back in 2006, and have never been disappointed with their order process, speed to issue certificates, or customer service (always answers my questions, and lets me know if any other documentation is needed for issuance of an EV SSL). I'll continue buying from them for years to come. =0)

Product: Platinum SSL Wildcard

Hi all.. I purchased a certificate from Comodo a few days ago; after spending days researching to realise the obvious.. All the reviews that slate SSL companies are just written by other companies. My experience with Comodo was excellent, in purchasing the certificate. The guy stayed on live chat with and helped me choose a certificate type. He stayed there when i made a mess of the sign up process and helped me get to my payment, then he helped me get my certificate authorised on the spot by getting me to do add a file to my webserver and giving him a link to it, proving my identity. Installing the actual certificate: Comodo have some really helpful resource pages (and commands for the command line). Though the pages are well written they are short and lack much content, if you are not really familiar with linux you're on your own. You mention a common linux file and the help desk don't seem to have a clue what you are talking about. I was sold a wildcard certificate and Comodo helped me get the initial setup (using the helpdesk and then the website howto) and it took a matter of minutes (around 40 start to end, I was really happy with this!). Setting up the subdomain however, Comodo couldn't help. The help desk were lost and took forever to reply and in the end I just said I would figure it out, and I did. Overall I feel like we got good value for money and that the helpdesk are good at (both taking your money and) helping you get setup on a single domain. The initial experience was positive. If you have subdomains and know what you are doing this is great value and will be a breeze. If you are not command line familiar and don't have a frontend for your server it may require a little search time and trial and error. Overall I feel we had a good experience and their website is user friendly and comes with a series of free and useful tools as well as a library of (short but) helpful howto's. I would happily use Comodo for another certificate. I want to thank Comodo for the help during setup and feel like I got a good deal, especially for the money!

Their support is just awful I've had better conversations with my Cat, They lack any real knowledge of the products they sell and requirements for said products. Phone support is just as bad, it sounds like they are using a 56K for that PBX system they have set up, and it seems they only have the one female employee who probably hates her job answering all the inquires. Needless to say next year I'm going with a different company to obtain my products, If I wasn't as savvy as I am I might have never been able to take advantage of the products I purchased.

Very satisfied with their offer and work/support. (exemplary) Validation team works fast. Problems with submitted non-english company documents solved qucikly. In case of any questions - technical or regarding validation - they responde within 1 hour. Even after normal worktime! Affordable price, good service. Highly recommended!

I am on day 3 of trying to get my UC SSL Cert for MS Exchange from Comodo. Their support is just awful and completely unacceptable. Getting a root canal is a less painful process. If I don't get my cert soon, I will be attempting to obtain a refund.

Great price over VeriSign

VeriSign is one of the easiest to use, but by far one of the most expensive when you have multiple servers to install certs on to. That's where Comodo came in for us. About $1500 for 8 premium wildcard certs, meaning they don't care which servers we install the certs as long as they're on our DNS Domain Name. I think Comodo is getting a bad rating here on this site because they're based in the UK, which is a 6 to 8 hour time difference in the States. Also, Comodo isn't going to hold your hand while you install your certs -- SSL not for the faint-of-heart. Comodo is geared toward corporations needing SSL that has a sufficient IT staff on hand. That's my 2 cents.

WHAT THE F@#@@@@. As many on this review board, I just had my COMODO SSL renewed.....to NOTHING!. I paid te money, they claimed they sent a ton of automated emails to an email I have o access to, I received nothing and one day I hover over my corner of trust and I see "IdAuthority Credentials are not available for this site." Currently looking to move to another provider.

Validation team works pretty fast. There are some difficulties because always answer different people which not look at history. If your documents meet the requirements of validation team the entire registration process can take less than a day including the call (with the correct documents it took me 18 hours).

Sales People are relentless but support is non-existant

Their sales people would not leave me alone. Kept on calling and calling, finally from a private number. I finally answered and he lied out his teeth. I told him I would consider it and when I called support to test them out and ask a few questions, I could never get someone and when I did, they were not even able to understand my basic questions.

Terrible!

I've been managing a number of websites with COMODO InstantSSL for a long time now. With COMODO, every renewal is a heart stopping exercise. Something goes wrong everytime. This last renewal was another interesting one; they have my email address as the owner of the certificate. The original email was sent to that email address too. But for some unexplainable reason they decided to send the renewal certificate to admin@mydomain.com which doesn't exist!!! I ask them to send it to the original email address but "no" they must send it to admin@mydomain.com. What a bunch of idiots. In the end, I managed to convince them to send it to my original email address. It then took several days before I received the certificate. I am sick of this company and I'll find another provider for all my future SSL cert. needs.

Nothing Unusual
July 25, 2011 Permalink
Overall Rating:
Product: Positive SSL

Having set up SSL certificates for various other web sites using a variety of Certificate Authorities, I can say that Comodo/PositiveSSL is about the same as most of the others regarding how difficult it is to get a certificate issued. Others who have complained about turnaround time for the Extended Validation certificates probably shouldn't be blaming Comodo for their own lack of planning. I would also ignore complaints from those who didn't know what to do with the certificate once they got it, since that would be similar to someone complaining of hunger after being served food with chopsticks. If you don't know what you're doing with an SSL cert, either teach yourself, ask for help, or just shut up. If you need a quick, inexpensive solution to have a signed cert to install on your web site, Comodo seems to be as good a choice as any. Better, considering the price.
