Ridiculous time frame

We ordered our certificate almost two months ago and only just received it. Comodo was completely uncommunicative with us and totally unresponsive. After verifying our contact info and identities endlessly, they would not contact us, and only under threat of cancellation did we finally receive our certification. We waited TWO MONTHS, and that's just bad business. I would not recommend their services.

We get our certificate through In Motion Hosting. Not sure who is responsible for the fact that our SSL certificate expired without any notice and we have lost business for 5 days. Seems utterly unprofessional.

I like comodo, but they services are awful, take's for ever to issue a new certificate. It took a week to get a new certificate and now we need to reissue certificate and passed 2 days and no answer.

A couple of the requested forms seemed a little too formal, especially for my small business, but I can understand the tighter requirements for the EV cert. However, phone support was very quick to cut through the formalities and I received extremely quick and professional service. No complaints in completing the process. Just be a little patient with the requirements. All in all, excellent service. (reference question 3, my hosting vendor did all of the details for initiating, purchase and installation of certificate.)

Took over 1 month Oct 25 I was charged and not until November 26th was I verified over the phone. I was unable to launch for my client for 3 weeks.... The "technician" I talked to was using an awful VOIP connection that was very poor. Couple that with his VERY thick Indian accent and It was very hard to get teh code right much less any other discussion... Overall very poor service... I will never purchase from Comodo again.

False adverticement - simply lying

When renewing a InstantSLL Comodo is offering a Free EV upgrade. In that upgrade they tell you to renew your InstantSLL certificate to multiple year "Renew to multiyear certificate to lock into this rare deal for years to come". This is simply a lie. I renewed to multiple years but after one year the EV upgrade is no longer valid. Simple rejection from support. No comment on the false adverticement even if I send them a copy of their site.

Is the first time I get an SSL certificate and I don't have to wait for 3 months and sending a bunch of private documents from my company to the SSL CA. Best company that I ever seen for now...

Appalling process

I ordered an EV SSL, and have been fighting their appalling document review process ever since. After the prescribed 5 days of waiting for the EV SSL I contacted them to be told they were waiting on docs that I'd never been asked to provide. Since then I have been emailing backwards and forwards trying to get issues sorted out and basically doing their job for them. I had to order the cheaper SSL certificate in the interim as the one we were reviewing has now run out, we still haven't get the EV SSL after about 3 weeks. Unacceptable service and process. Avoid.

I am totally a babe in the dark re: setup/issuance and the instructions were clear and I was set up in no time. An obvious part of the responsibility for set-up lies with the purchaser, and following directions.

They do not read your emails

After using Comodo for years for the same website they all of a sudden need to call me at the phone number listed in one of three online directories. I guess this is because their security was breached so they went overboard. The problem is that I do not work in the office that is in the directories they use. I telecommute plus I handle several other customers. I am the registered domain owner which shows my full name, address and phone number and yet Comodo insists that they either reach me at the public phone number listed in the directories which is in another State or change the directory listing to match my phone number. Of course this is stupid because my phone number is my cell phone and they are asking me to change my company's listing in D&B to my cell phone. I keep emailing them to tell them that I telecommute and work from home and that I cannot change the company's published phone number to my cell phone and all they do is keep sending me the same email over and over and over again. It is a form email that asks me to let them know when I will be available to take their phone call at our headquarters office. I keep telling them that I do not work from that office and then reply by telling me to change the listing in the directory to my phone number. I cannot make them understand that I do not work at the office in the directory and I cannot just change our corporate office's phone number to my private cell number. I just keep getting the same email no matter what I say. I finally asked for a refund and am going to use GoDaddy or someone similar. They are cheaper and they do it the proper way by calling the domain owner that is listed in WHOIS and not a phone number in a phone directory. It is impossible to keep using them for the other accounts I handle because they want to be able to reach me at each company I do work for and I work from home. I cannot seem to make them understand how silly their policy is because it assumes that the person asking for the SSL, who by the way is the registered user for the company account with them, works at the office listed in D&B. I guess that any IT person who works out of a branch office can never verify with Comodo and they just do not see it. I do not even know if they understand english because I keep trying to explain to them and they do not even address my issues but keep sending me the same email again and again. BTW - They run another website and offer the same certificates cheaper.

I have ordered multiple SSL certificates from Comodo and they all ended up taking multiple days to verify my e-mail address and phone number. Their website is confusing especially for re-sellers.

Buy direct or you get no support

I bought through a reseller and then received a "free offer" directly from Comodo. I could not redeem the free offer because I had purchased through a reseller. I contacted support and they basically said that they couldn't help me with that OR ANY OTHER SUPPORT REQUESTS. Sure, I wanted to save a few bucks, but to be treated like you don't exist when you are purchasing their product really is bad business. If you don't want resellers selling at a discount you should not offer them a discount

Renewing or purchasing a SSL from Comodo is a long, slow, drawn out process that takes weeks. Especially if you are purchasing an EV certificate.

Well we took weeks to get it approved as they asked lots of company docs like registration and other paperwork to proof that we are actually a real company. Then they called an spoke with the boss to make sure we exist. At list we got what we paid for ...security! We are in Japan so they had to rely on another company to do the checks, as far I understood.

We wait for one week to have the complete verification form Comodo: some signatures, attorney declaration, the phone verification... But at the end all was ok.
