Hello When I asked the SSL EV the agents did not understand my geographical and professional situation. It took 4 messages before the situation was understood. The procedure is too complicated for us who are French because we do not have the same administrative rules in France. Though I had a very robust conversation with Bob in the Sale Department of COMODO, having become satisfied about COMODO products, I however went ahead to purchase my SSL from a third party company called WHOGOHOST, but definitely COMODO product. I couldn't buy directly from COMODO website because of exchange rate which make it cheaper to still buy their product from an accredited third party in my country, Nigeria. Though my experience with the third party was highly panicking and stressful ( the reasons for my response to item 3 and 4 on the questioner, but it's worth the price and effort in the long run.

It was a little confusing but once the invoice was paid via hostgator hey presto we had a secure site again. The moral of my story is renew in advance of the expiry date and all will be well!

In addition to my last post. Comodo phoned me today, and things seem to be progressing better. No demand for a landline phone record now. At this stage my solicitor is holding it up but that's OK. I think maybe they're improving on Code Signing Certs (where, it seems, much of the criticism arises)

They simply do not seem equipped to deal with the realities of life, as someone else said they seem to expect everything to be verifiable online. My solicitor has a sizeable practice for the city I live in but you cannot verify his credentials anywhere online, that's causing me delays. Also their procedure says a landline phone bill is preferred, but they list alternatives, and since I have no landline phone in my name I sent a tax bill as an alternative (it's on their list as a valid alternative). They now say I MUST provide a landline phone bill. Fortunately the cert I applied for is something I want, not something I need. Not at all impressed so far.
