GlobalSign Rebrands and Relaunches

July 17, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Certification authority and security services provider GlobalSign (globalsign.com) recently announced that it has rebranded and relaunched as a member of the GMO Internet (gmo.jp/en) group of companies and has launched a new set of products and services. Prior to VeriSign's acquisition of GeoTrust, GMO Internet managed the GeoTrust Europe, RapidSSL.com and GeoTrust Japan brands.

GlobalSign says the launch of its new services and rebranding are a result of recent change within the SSL industry that started in September 2006 when US based GeoTrust was acquired by VeriSign and an opportunity arose for a SSL provider to move into GeoTrust's market position as the second largest player and to become the new alternative offering to the number one player VeriSign.

GlobalSign has also launched a new management team as part of its relaunch campaign, which includes many industry veterans previously responsible for launching or operating SSL divisions of nearly all the major certification authorities. The team now includes Ichiro Chujo as group CEO, Paul Tourret as managing director EMEA, Johan Sys as CEO North America, Steve Waite as corporate marketing, EMEA and North America, Henry Krumins as sales director, EMEA and North America, Michiari Kanno as group CFO and Steve Roylance as business development director EMEA and North America.

GlobalSign now has new offices in the US, UK and Japan as well as the original office in Belgium. Replacement of legacy systems for enterprise solutions and reseller management systems are being rolled out throughout June 2007 along with new SSL and security products, says the company.

GlobalSign recently began offering ObjectSign certificates for code signing on Microsoft Windows Vista and Apple Mac OS.
