Have had only one failed cert (required new CSR on the reissue). Have used the RapidSSL certs, WildCard and have had the ability to issue SAN certificates to my portal, as well. I've found them to be of good value, when I simply needed an SSL cert, manageable, and usable.
Had to upgrade a RapidSSL cert to a SAN cert with a server upgrade and certificate was issued within 2 hours of ordering. Now we waste hours on every order as they either have no procedure or change it at will. They often lose the email (don't ask me how), and calls to them are met with a desk staffed by people with little knowledge and even less inclination to help. Worst of all however is that they seem to change their requirements every week, with documents and contacts sufficient last week considered unacceptable this week. Recent reasons for refusal having included the addition of a full stop at the end of a customers company name and Geotrusts inability to verify phone numbers by using the BT online phone directory (it was clearly listed as I pointed out to the supervisor I escalated to.) So basically they do not take responsibility and keep their promises, we have provided them all the offical files but in the end they needed them hard copied, even our lawyer and trade commerce letter was offical and could be checked online on their offical website. If I try to contact the so-called Support, they are hardly reachable and will tell you nothing but some general BS(basically: "I will contact the regional customer center to speed up the process), but of course nothing happens.

Interesting, when we were just evaluating the Trial certificate, a Customer representative could contact us at least twice a week...

I really think CheapSSL dot com is the cheapest at $7.99 for a Rapid SSL certificate at the moment.
