Confused at first, but overall satisfied
Thu April 30, 2009
Overall Rating:
Product Purchased: Standard UC Certificate
Support: They are excellent! Very helpful and responsive and fix problems easily.
Interface: A little confusing but easy enough after I figured it out.
Issuance Speed: Less than an hour

I purchased the GoDaddy certs because of price. Getting it installed was difficult, but I attribute that to this being my first go at installing a cert into Exchange 2007. My issues were both at installing the intermediate cert and installing my cert. Both issues were my fault and not that of Godaddy. With the intermediate cert, I had trouble importing it because when I went to import it I would highlight the "Intermediate Certificate Authorities" then right click to import. This does not work... Just put your mouse over it then right click and it will work. Took me 3 hours to figure this out. My personal cert didn't work until I figured out that I was using the thumbprint of the self signed cert to enable instead of the Godaddy cert. Once I recognized that mistake, boom it all worked. Like I said, these were my issues and I will continue to use Godaddy because of price.

Going Nowhere Daddy

Overall Rating:
Product Purchased: Deluxe SSL
Support: They are inadequate. Very unresponsive.
Interface: It is difficult to use and doesn't meet my needs.
Issuance Speed: After several days

Getting the cert was like pulling teeth. Several calls to support that always resulted in "we were just going to call you" Sure you were. Waiting on hold for 20 to 30 minutes and when you did get someone they gave you a hard time. STAY AWAY FROM GO DADDY. After this cert is up they couldn't give me one for free.

Cheap security

Support: I'm not sure. I've never needed support.
Interface: A little confusing but easy enough after I figured it out.
Issuance Speed: Less than an hour

The Godaddy website might be a little confusing, however they do offer the cheapest certificates around.

The review from 'Jay Miller' is incorrect; the intermediate certificates only needs to be installed server-side and Firefox/Opera/Whatever will happily accept the certificate by default.

Quick and cheap. Hard to complain.

I chose GoDaddy because of how cheap they are and because I don't need a fully validated certificate. I ordered it on a weekend so, rather than being issued in a few minutes, it was issued in 8-9 hours. Other than that, the process was pretty simple and satisfactory.

Turn on Nascar, crack open a Budweiser, and visit godaddy.com. When you get there try not to be distracted by the all of the Nascar adds, special offers, GoDaddyGirls link, or other offensive clutter. Instead try to get down to the business of navigating their confusing, and often unusable web site. Often you can't get the job done through their web interface, but their phone support usually takes care of the problem pretty quick after some time waiting on hold.

I seriously don't know what these guys are thinking. They are the cheapest game in town, but sometimes you get what you pay for.

Go Daddy's certificates are cheap, but for anyone who expects clients other than recent Microsoft browsers, they aren't the way to go.

A moment in Google will reveal that current versions of neither Firefox nor Safari supports Go Daddy certificates without additional "intermediate" certificates. Additionally, a set of intermediate certificates even need to be installed on the IIS side, so not even the server-side is as straight-forward as it could be.

Worse, at least one of our customers associates "Go Daddy" more with chauvinistic Super Bowl ads than security. Very embarrassing.

Spend a few bucks more at RapidSSL or one of the more reputable providers - Go Daddy isn't worth the savings.

For a low budget site like ours, GoDaddy was the most appealing provider. We ordered the certificate easily, except for the barrage of other products that they offer during checkout, and received it back very quickly.
